TPU, For Flex, Grip, and Impact Absorption

TPU, For Flex, Grip, and Impact Absorption

TPU is where rigid part design gives way to movement.

If you need bend, compression, grip, damping, shock absorption, or a rubber-like response, TPU is your lane. It opens the door to tires, feet, gaskets, bumpers, protective sleeves, wearable pieces, seals, cable strain relief, and all kinds of things that rigid filament handles poorly.

Different hardness ratings matter. Softer TPU bends more easily and demands more from the extrusion system. Harder TPU behaves closer to rigid plastics while still offering flexibility.

Filazoo’s current lineup includes multiple TPU hardness options, ranging from softer grades up through firmer ones like 95A and 98A.

Best use cases

Phone grips, anti-vibration feet, wearable components, protective covers, RC tires, seals, flexible connectors

Why makers love it

It lets printers create parts that absorb energy instead of just resisting it.

Watch outs

Flexible filament punishes poor filament paths, sloppy retraction strategies, and aggressive print speeds.
